Celebrating 10 years of World Duty Free recruitment

ResourceBank’s World Duty Free recruitment team were whisked off on a weekend trip to Dublin to celebrate 10 years of providing a successful outsourced recruitment service for the UK’s leading airport retailer. Equipped with an overnight bag and personalised luggage tags, the journey began of course, with a visit to the World Duty Free Store in Heathrow!

ResourceBank has been providing outsourced recruitment to World Duty Free (WDF) for 10 years since securing the contract to recruit 150 new employees for the opening of Heathrow Terminal 5 in 2007.  The relationship has grown and developed to encompass recruitment for all World Duty Free and Nuance stores throughout the UK as well as head office and store management recruitment. The success of the contract was recognised in 2015 through the winning of the Best Embedded Recruitment Team category at the Recruiter Awards.

Celebrating a successful partnership

Both ResourceBank and WDF teams were joined by ResourceBank Managing Director Richard Pearson and WDF HR Director Geoff Hall – the getaway therefore provided a fantastic opportunity not only to celebrate but also to discuss ways to develop and enhance the outsourced recruitment service in the future. The success and long-standing contract with WDF is a result of the team’s hard work and ability to work closely with one another, sharing ideas and finding ways to work together seamlessly. The team also pride themselves on their dedication towards providing the best candidate experience and have become embedded into the WDF culture to do so. The first-class service means candidates feel like they are talking directly to WDF.  The method of candidate assessment and interviewing processes means that shortlisted individuals are a great match for WDF’s values rather than simply being a particular fit for specific jobs.

Sarah Medhurst, UK Resourcing Manager for World Duty Free commented:

“We have worked with the small but highly effective team based in Henley for 10 years. The scale and complexity of recruitment for our WDF airport retail business has increased year on year and coupled with the recruitment challenges in the UK market and the competitive hunt for great talent – our combined efforts to bring 1000 people into our business each year is frankly amazing!

They are a team of highly professional, customer-service orientated resourcers who work tirelessly to attract, sort and screen the thousands of applications to our UK website.

They are the first contact with our applicants and represent WDF as we would want and expect; treating each one with respect, care and efficiency.Their candidate care is their number one priority and we regularly receive positive feedback from our new starters about the recruitment and onboarding process.

On behalf of WDF-Dufry, I’d like to commend and thank the team for their contribution and results. Here’s to the next few years of working together in partnership; making our process truly customer-friendly and our approach to high volume recruitment the best it can be for the world’s number one travel retailer.”
