ResourceBank Rowathon to save children’s lives

Monday 10th January will see ResourceBank employees take on 24-hour charity ‘Rowathon’.

Using rowing machines, we will be rowing day and night to raise funds alongside Team Elijah’s Star who are rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for Action Medical Research.

Team Elijhah’s star say “Our aim is to shine a spotlight on premature birth to help save and change children’s lives through funding medical research. We believe that the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children can be beaten. Surprisingly medical research to help children is poorly funded in the UK.”

Managing Director Richard Pearson says,

“Phil and Dean are two of my cycling buddies and together with Mac and Jason, came up with this brave, amazing and slightly mad idea to row the Atlantic. Knowing them as I do, there is no doubt they will give their all to conquer the Atlantic and raise money for this great charity. The boat they are rowing is named after Elijah, a baby that lived for 37 days and their aim is to complete the crossing in 37 days! The charity behind this is  Action Medical Research and they do fantastic work in the field of  prenatal intervention and helping children with life limiting diseases.

Established in 1952 their work has helped eliminate polio, reduce spina bifida, develop the use of ultrasound and much more, there can be few more worthy causes.

Whatever we do is merely a nod to the fantastic effort the boys are making to row over 3000 miles and I am completely humbled that they will be calling us on the 10th of Jan to encourage our efforts, amazing!”
